<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on"><I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Parma</I></st1:City></st1:place><I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal"> Hts. – “No good deed goes unpunished</I>”.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>While contemporary musical theater fans may recognize the phrase as a song title in the smash hit <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">“Wicked”,</I> it was actually Clare Boothe Luce, the real-life <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">New York</st1:place></st1:State> socialite who originally coined the phrase in the 1930’s.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Her 1936 play <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">The Women</I>, a biting satire on the idleness of wealthy wives and divorcees, will be staged at the Cassidy Theatre this month directed by Lester Currie.</FONT></FONT></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">The Women is an acidic commentary on the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Manhattan</st1:place></st1:City> socialites and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages their relationships – a subject the playwright knew well.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>While men frequently are the subject of the lively discussions and play an important role in the action on-stage, they are strictly characters mentioned but never seen.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The original production opened on Broadway in 1936 and was adapted as a film in 1939.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
