<font face="PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif"><b>SEEKING TALENTED STUDENTS FROM THE NORTHEAST OHIO REGION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE VOICE AND OPERATIC INSTITUTE FOR SINGERS AT KENT STATE UNIVERSITY.<br><br>Auditions will be held Monday January 26, 2009.<br>

Lessons and classes will begin Saturday January 31, 2009.<br><br>For those not familiar with our program, our purpose is to provide both healthy vocal instruction and valuable stage training to talented students from the Northeast Ohio region. Students accepted into this program will be given 14 private voice lessons and studio classes. They will also sing leading roles in scenes from musical theater, operetta and opera in a staged scenes production. Students will also be given the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with sought after voice teachers, and will perform in a formal recital at the end of the semester.<br>

<br>The tuition for this program is $470. This breaks down as follows: $20 per private voice lesson (14 lesson), $45 voice class fee (14 classes), $100 scenes production fee, and $45 accompanist fee.<br><br></b></font><b><font face="PrimaSans BT,Verdana,sans-serif">VOIS is open to any young performers in grades 7 to 12, but acceptance is on an audition-only basis as there are limited spaces available. <br>

</b><br><b>Fenlon Lamb, Biography:<br><br></b></font>American mezzo-soprano <strong>Fenlon Lamb</strong> consistently garners critical acclaim for her "<em>dynamic, rich vocal sound</em>" and "<em>polished acting abilities</em>." As a "<em>deliciously vulnerable</em>" Dorabella <strong><em><span class="caps">COS</span>Ì <span class="caps">FAN TUTTE</span></em></strong> at Opera Santa Barbara, Ms. Lamb was praised for a "<em>charismatic characterization [both] flirtatious and impulsive</em>." For her role debut of Rosina <strong><em><span class="caps">BARBIERE</span> DI <span class="caps">SIVIGLIA</span></em></strong> with Sacramento Opera, the critic raved: "<em>…every inch the saucy rebel [who] navigated the highly ornamented passages with creamy ease.</em>" The Baltimore Sun applauded her <strong><em><span class="caps">AGRIPPINA</span></em></strong>: "<em>In the title role, Fenlon Lamb revealed a bright, flexible voice, ever-brilliant phrasing and theatrical flourish</em>." <br>

This season Ms. Lamb made her Seattle Opera debut as Enrichetta I <span class="caps">PURITANI as well as her company and role debut with Berkshire Opera singing Marcellina LE <span class="caps">NOZZE DI <span class="caps">FIGARO. She also returned to the Bar Harbor Music Festival as <span class="caps">CARMEN. As a soloist with Singers Beyond Borders,

she was featured in benefit concerts throughout Asia including

Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila and Singapore. In 2009, Ms. Lamb will sing

Meg Page <strong><em><span class="caps">FALSTAFF</span></em></strong> and Zerlina <strong><em><span class="caps">DON GIOVANNI</span></em></strong> with Opera Cleveland.  She also joins the Canton Symphony Orchestra as Suzuki in <strong><em><span class="caps">MADAMA BUTTERFLY</span></em></strong> and the Bay Atlantic Symphony for a performance of DeFalla's <strong><em>EL <span class="caps">AMOR BRUJO</span></em></strong>.<br>

<p>Recently, she returned to Sacramento Opera for Mrs. Grose <strong><em><span class="caps">TURN </span>of the <span class="caps">SCREW</span></em></strong>. During the 2006/2007 season, Ms. Lamb portrayed the title role of <strong><em><span class="caps">CARMEN</span></em></strong>

for both the Mississippi and Granite State Opera companies. For the

latter performance, Opera Online described her as a singer "<em>gifted with a wonderful, resonant voice that packs plenty of punch in all the right places in the score</em>." Other recent engagements include Maddalena <strong><em><span class="caps">RIGOLETTO</span></em></strong> with Opera Vivente, Flora <strong><em>LA <span class="caps">TRAVIATA</span></em></strong> at Opera Grand Rapids, and Stephano <strong><em><span class="caps">ROM</span>ÉO ET <span class="caps">JULIETTE</span></em></strong> for Opera Cleveland. The Akron Beacon Journal said of this pants role portrayal: "<em>Fenlon Lamb stood out with her resonant tone and excellent French."</em></p>

<p>Ms. Lamb debuted with the <strong>Cleveland Orchestra</strong> as Angelina <strong><em>LA <span class="caps">CENERENTOLA</span></em></strong>. Many highly praised performances followed. In the title role of <strong><em><span class="caps">IOLANTHE</span></em></strong> for Cleveland Opera she sang with "<em>fetching dignity and vocal allure</em>," while she brought <em>"dry wit and knowing understatement"</em> to Ilona <strong><em><span class="caps">SHE LOVES</span> ME</em></strong> with Lyric Opera Cleveland. She also sang the Wife "<em>abounding with sympathy</em>" for the world premier <strong><em><span class="caps">COME</span> TO ME IN <span class="caps">DREAMS</span></em></strong> with baritone Sanford Sylvan. She has sung Beggar Woman <strong><em><span class="caps">SWEENEY TODD</span></em></strong> for both the Toledo and Cleveland Opera Companies. Opera News took notice, saying: "<em>Fenlon Lamb was a moving and convincing Beggar Woman</em>."</p>

Concert appearances have included <span class="caps">BEETHOVEN MASS IN C with Hartford Symphony and <span class="caps">BEETHOVEN 9th <span class="caps">SYMPHONY with both the Toledo and Akron Symphonies. Additionally, Ms. Lamb has sung the alto solos in <span class="caps">MOZART MASS in C <span class="caps">MINOR for Cleveland Choral Arts, <span class="caps">HANDEL MESSIAH with Loyola Symphony, and <span class="caps">MOZART REQUIEM with Santa Cruz Symphony.

</p><p>Ms. Lamb received her training through several of the finest

apprentice programs in the United States. At the Santa Fe Opera

Apprentice Program she covered the Third Maid <strong><em><span class="caps">ELEKTRA</span></em></strong> and Dryade <strong><em><span class="caps">ARIADNE AUF NAXOS</span></em></strong> and as a member of the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program she sang Dorabella <strong><em><span class="caps">COS</span>Ì <span class="caps">FAN TUTTE</span></em></strong> and Zerlina <strong><em><span class="caps">DON GIOVANNI</span></em></strong>. As a Baltimore Opera Studio Artist, she performed such roles as Larina <strong><em><span class="caps">EUGENE ONEGIN</span></em></strong>, and Countess de Coigny <strong><em><span class="caps">ANDREA</span> CHÉNIER</em></strong>. Of her performance in the latter The Washington Post wrote, "<em>Lovely mezzo, Fenlon Lamb, sang the self-centered Contessa to perfection."</em>

Ms. Lamb is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music (MM-Opera

Performance) and University of California at Santa Cruz (BA-Music)
