Beginner Lindy Hop from 7-8 <br>
<br>
Lindy Hop is the original form of swing dancing that originated in the
ballrooms of Harlem, NY in the late 1920s/early 1930s. It is done in 8 counts
rather than the Jitterbug’s 6 and there fore allows you to match the
music much better. It is a bit more linear versus the circular Jitterbug too.
The Lindy Hop is a tiny bit more difficult to learn but oh so worth it! When
you begin to master the swing out, circle, inside turn, outside turn, RJ, and
more …you will have a sense of overwhelming euphoria and true connection
to the music! For examples of the Lindy think of the dance scenes in the movies
“Swing Kids” or “Malcolm X” or go to the video section
of www.GetHepSwing.com. No partner needed. Dress in comfortable clothing and
wear shoes that are not sticky. <br>

Beginner Balboa from 8-9 <br>
<br>
Balboa and Bal-Swing are dances that originated in the crowded ballrooms of <st1:place
w:st="on">Southern California</st1:place> and were most popular in the mid
1930s. The Balboa is most loved for its fancy foot work, finesse, subtleties,
and ability to be done quite easily at fast tempos. The Balboa is done with a
closer torso to torso type connection and is the perfect dance for working on
leading and following body leads. Bal-Swing; with its open body connection,
developed when the strict Balboa and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place>
style swing dancing were combined. Bal-Swing and its bigger
“crazier” movements would often times get you kicked out of the
ballrooms back in the day! Come and be a rebel and learn the Balboa with us! To

shoes that are a bit on the SLIPPERY SIDE. Leather soled shoes are perfect for
this foot particular dance. It is also recommended that the ladies in the

Beginner Jitterbug lessons from 7-8 <br>
<br>
This class will be an introduction to the most well known form of swing
dancing; the Jitterbug. This dance was originally made famous in the 1940s and
50s, but is still enjoyed today all across the world. We will dance to all
kinds of music from big band to blues to early rock and roll. You will learn
several basic foot work patterns, how to connect with a partner and socially lead
and follow a variety of moves in open and closed position. There are many
opportunities in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Cleveland</st1:City></st1:place>
area to go out and dance and this is a great way to get involved, meet people
and get some exercise too! Don’t be afraid! This dance is very easy and
fun to learn! You DO NOT need a partner for this class. Please dress in
comfortable clothing and wear shoes that are not too sticky. <br>

champion and the owner of Get Hep Swing. She has been dancing, teaching,
competing, choreographing, coaching, and judging swing dance full time for the
