Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan is proud to present Free Family Theatre in the
Parks! The teens of the Student Theatre Enrichment Program (STEP) present <i>Eye,
Mind, Heart</i>, an original play inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's <i>The
Snow Queen</i>. The 2009 STEP project will open on Thursday, July 30th at
Herman Park in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood before touring to a dozen
other parks throughout the city of Cleveland through August 9th.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Utilizing <i>The
Snow Queen</i> as a starting point, STEP's ensemble of inner-city teens reveal
their own hopes, fears, strengths and vulnerabilities. This family-friendly
performance is a powerful love story that examines humanity's struggle for
compassion and connection in a materialistic and cut-throat world, and is
super-charged with a cappella singing, dance and non-stop action. <i>Eye, Mind,
Heart</i> is about finding one's path to a joyful life and highlights the power
and creativity of Cleveland's youth. This original work will be presented free
of charge at parks throughout the city of Cleveland from July 30 - August 9.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

inner-city teens in a rigorous and fun theatrical journey, focusing on
excellence in performance, play creation, writing, and production. Now in its
16th year, STEP has received multiple awards and recognitions including those
from the City of Cleveland and from The President's Committee on the Arts and
Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts. CPT Teaching Artists guide
inner-city teens with little or no previous performance experience on a journey
of self discovery and awareness through the dramatic arts. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
