<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>The Ashtabula Arts Center has scheduled a number of
acting classes this fall as well as one-day and multi-day acting workshops, many
of them are new and never before offered. <BR> <BR>"Improv for Tweens
and Teens" with Kim Godfrey will be offered on Mondays from 6-7 p.m. for 10
weeks beginning Sept. 14th, $60 class fee for the session. Have you seen
the show "Who's Line is it Anyway?" Join in a class to explore the many
ways of improvisation! In this form of theater you can make up the scenes
and anything goes! It will stretch your imagination and boost confidence
on stage. The final class will be an improv show to share with friends and
family.<BR> <BR>"Storybook Stagecraft" for Elementary-aged students with
Kim Godfrey will be offered on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m.for 10 weeks
beginning Sept. 15th. Cost is $60 for the session. Focusing on a classic
children's story, students will learn the basics of acting -- stage delivery,
diction and projection, emotion, pantomime, focus, and blocking. At
the final class students will present a staged performance of the story as
readers' theater for family and friends. <BR> <BR> "Acting for Teens"
with Linda Fundis will be offered on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for 10 weeks
beginning Sept. 16th. Cost of the class is $60 for the session. This
introduction will engage teens in a variety of activities from creative
dramatics to listening skills and stage movement. We will stress
interaction with others and self-development. Beginners
welcome!<BR> <BR>"Stage Management" for teens & adults with Roz Moulder
will be offered on Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. for 6 weeks beginning Sept. 17th.
Cost of the class is $36 for the session. Explore the fundamentals of
stage managing a production from casting through rehearsals to the closing of
the show. This class is for those who are new to stage management as well as for
those who want to hone their skills. <BR>Saturday Classes
<BR> <BR>"Musical Theater Tap Dance Class" for beginning and intermediate
teens and adults will be offered with Karen Sly on Saturdays from 11:00
a.m. - 12 p.m. for 10 weeks beginning Sept. 26th. Cost of the class is $65
for the session. Focusing on simple rhythms and steps combining them to
make more complicated syncopated combinations. A great class for the
musical theater performer!<BR> <BR> "Stage Combat" will be offered on
Saturday, Oct. 3rd from Noon - 3 p.m. with Clay Nielson. Cost of the class
for ages 14 and up (minors with permission) will be $15.<BR>An
introduction to various aspects of stage combat which will teach us how to
create realistic battle scenes. The class will include material on armed
and unarmed stage combat plus choreography. Come dressed in comfortable
clothing - this will be a hands-on workshop. Limit 20.
<BR> <BR>"Physicality Or Everything I Know I Learned from Cartoons..." for
ages 13 - adults<BR>will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 10th from1-3 p.m.with Tom
Jessup. Cost of the workshop is $10. Based upon a lifelong love of cartoon
characters and utilizing games, <BR>exercises and discussions, the goal of the
workshop is to help participants discover how to better animate the choices they
make in theatrical roles. The work will at times be somewhat strenuous, so
everyone should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to move. Prior to
class, participants are asked to choose a favorite cartoon character and be
prepared to discuss their choice with the group.<BR> <BR>"The Actor's Face"
is a two-week workshop for teens and adults with Douglas Anderson<BR>on
Saturdays, Oct. 10th & 17th from 10 a.m. - noon. Cost is $20.
Convey emotion with a single glance. Work on enlarging your repertoire of
expressions and on making your face readable from the audience. Enhance
your expressions with gestures and body language to define your character.
Please bring a hand mirror. <BR> <BR>An "Audition Workshop" for teens and
adults with Kim Godfrey will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31st from 10 a.m.
-12:30 p.m. Cost is $12.50. What do I wear to an
audition? What monologue should I choose? What song? We will
answer these questions and more. Feel at ease at your next audition. Feel free
to bring a song/or monologue for a chance to do a 'mock' audition. Recommended
for individual acting students, but open to anyone. <BR> <BR>"The Actor's
Voice" is a two-week workshop for teens and adults with Douglas Anderson<BR>on
Wednesdays, Nov. 4th & 11th from 7 - 9 p.m. Cost is $20. An
actor's most important tool is the voice. Learn to use your voice to the
best advantage. Topics covered will include projection, pitch, inflection,
enunciation, and choosing emphasis. Find a unique voice for your
character. Bring a short paragraph (about 1 minute) or poem (14-30 lines)
to read. Dress comfortably for some mild physical
exercise.<BR> <BR>Also new this fall is Individual Music Theater
Instruction with Kim Godfrey and Individual General Theater Instruction with Tom
Jessup. Students can sign up for individual one-on-one lessons. The
cost of each one hour lesson is $17.<BR> <BR>In Musical Theater
Instruction, a mix of voice lessons, coaching on the acting of a song, and
monologue coaching. Find out ways to build a character for an entire show
or even a minute long monologue. Get prepared for college auditions or
auditions down the street! <BR> <BR>In General Theater Instruction,
veteran actor Tom Jessup will work with you on anything from monologue selection
and prep to character interpretation. Tom is here to help you be the best
you can be! <BR></FONT></DIV>
