<DIV>PLAYWRITING WORKSHOP FOR ADULTS <BR>taught by award-winning Cleveland
playwright Sarah Morton </DIV>

<DIV>In this 8- session intensive, students will explore the fundamentals of
playwriting, including story and structure, crafting a scene, theatrical
language/ dialogue, and character development. Learn how to turn your ideas on
the page into vivid, dynamic and ‘actor-friendly’ writing for the stage.
Discover your unique voice as a playwright in a small, supportive workshop
setting. </DIV>

<DIV>This class is geared towards beginning playwrights, but all levels of
experience are welcome. <BR>Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Please register
early! </DIV>

<DIV>Class meets on Monday evenings from January 18th to March 8th ,
6:30-9:30 pm. </DIV>
<DIV>at Loganberry Books on Larchmere Road near Shaker Square. </DIV>

<DIV>About the instructor: </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Sarah Morton has been called ‘the Cleveland area’s most consistently
entertaining and intellectually satisfying playwright.” She is the author
of over a dozen produced plays, including DREAM/HOME, NIGHT BLOOMERS, and her
solo piece 4 MINUTES TO HAPPY. She has been an artist/teacher in residence
at Cleveland State University, Cleveland School of the Arts, Hathaway Brown
School, Shaker Heights High School and an Adjunct Theatre faculty member at
Lorain County Community College and John Carroll University. For eight years,
she was the primary instructor for The Cleveland Play House Young Playwrights
Workshop, a program for gifted high school writers. She was also an education
staff member at Cleveland Public Theatre, where she taught Writing for Solo
Performance for beginning and advanced students. Since she began teaching
independently in 2005, students from her playwriting and solo performance
workshops have had their work featured in CPT’s Big BOX and Little BOX series,
and in the OddyFest series of new work. Sarah is a two-time recipient of the
Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence
Award.
