<span style="font-size:small">This intensive course will take the serious directing student through the entire directing process: from the first time you read the script, to deciding its main event, script analysis, research, design, staging and working with actors and other collaborators. Each student will direct a scene from one of three plays: Our Town, by Thornton Wilder, The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams, or The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, by Paul Zindel. All three plays, along with the text analysis book Backwards and Forwards, by David Ball, will be required reading for this course. This will be a very intense three weeks of work for those who wish to receive a straightforward and comprehensive introduction to the art of directing a play.</span></p>
