Shakespeare Performance Intensive</STRONG> is a summer workshop designed as a
<STRONG>crash course </STRONG>in Shakespearean language and performance.
Students will learn how to approach Shakespeare's text as well as fundamentals
of acting Shakespearean plays, specific memorization techniques and
characterization methods. Specific skills include: Acting with iambic pentameter
and scansion, using operative words and level of commitment - both physical and
linguistic. Collaboratively, students will create a performance for the final
day of class. <STRONG>Karen Sabo</STRONG> has studied Shakespeare at
the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and at Shakespeare &
Company in Massachusetts. She has played numerous roles in Shakespeare
productions, and directed her own adaptation of The Tempest for the Jonesborough
Repertory Theatre in Tennessee. She has taught Shakespearean acting techniques
to private students and as part of traditional acting classes for many years.
Karen is currently teaching at Baldwin-Wallace College.</FONT></DIV>
