aspiration that cultivates suspicion, oppression, and even cold-blooded
murder?<span style=""> </span>Director Justin Emeka’s
new production of <i style="">MacBeth</i> sets
Shakespeare’s iconic play against the violent wreckage of the American South
after our country’s bloodiest legacy, the Civil War.<span style=""> </span>His re-envisioning of the classic text pays tribute to the
clash of culture and class that formed a turning point in American history,
when battling dreams and desires dissolved once again into violence.<span style=""> </span><i style="">MacBeth</i>
dives from the dizzying heights of human ambition to the utter brutality that
it inevitably creates, asking: How far are you willing to go in the name of
your country?</span>
