class=Apple-style-span>Ten men and seven women are needed (although some roles
may be either) for the upcoming production of 1940’s Radio Hour. The show will
be directed by Rich Jagunic, with musical direction by Debbie Burkhart.<SPAN
class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>Auditions are set for Monday
and Tuesday, October 4 and 5. Registration begins at 7:00 pm and auditions will
begin at 7:30 each night. An accompanist will be provided.<BR><BR>Those
auditioning for singing roles must have a prepare<SPAN style="DISPLAY: inline"
class=text_exposed_show>d musical selection and sheet music or accompaniment
track. There will also be a short dance audition as well as readings from the
script. Those wishing to audition for non-singing roles will not have to
dance.<SPAN class=Apple-converted-space> </SPAN><BR><BR>A different time is
evoked in this marvelously theatrical and winning show, a live broadcast of The
Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room on
December 21, 1942. The harassed producer copes with a drunk lead singer, the
delivery boy who wants a chance in front of the mike, the second banana who
dreams of singing a ballad, and the trumpet playing sound effects man who
chooses a fighter plane over Glenn Miller.<BR><BR>The spirit of that bygone era
when the world was at war and pop music meant “Strike Up the Band” “Boogie
Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” and “I’ve Got a Gal
in Kalamazoo” (all of which are in the show), is wonderfully captured.<SPAN

swing dancing, patriotism, and old-fashioned sound effects, The 1940s Radio Hour
is a holiday treat for the whole family and is rated “G.”<BR><BR>According to
