-</b> The Roaring '20s are back and better than ever! The most celebrated
musical of the 2006 Broadway season, <b style="">THE
DROWSY CHAPERONE</b>, a completely original musical comedy, is coming to the
Garfield Heights Center for the Performing Arts October 29 thru November 14,
2010, as the Garfield Players (aka Garfield Heights Little Theatre) kick off their 29^th annual season of theatrical productions. The music and
lyrics by Tony Award^® winners Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison and
book by Tony Award^® winners Bob Martin and Don McKellar offer up a
thoroughly modern take on classic musical comedy. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Garfield Players, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit community
theatre, is proud to present the Northeast Ohio <i style="">regional premiere</i> of <b style="">THE
DROWSY CHAPERONE</b><i style="">, </i>after a very
successful national touring company brought the show to the Playhouse Square
Center in 2007.<span style="">  </span>Founded in 1981,
the Garfield Players’ home is in the Garfield Heights Center for the Performing
Arts (part of the Garfield Heights High School campus), located at 4900 Turney
Road, Garfield Heights, OH. <span style=""> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">This regional premiere is directed by native-Clevelander
James E. Jarrell, who has directed and performed for community and professional
theatres both locally and around the country. Musical direction is provided by Garfield
Players regular Keith Stiver (<i style="">Sound of
Music</i>, <i style="">Jekyll & Hyde</i>) and
choreography by Jennifer Leinweber-Ritz, who recently choreographed <i style="">The Producers</i> for CVLT. Add in costumes
by Gary Samarin, sets by Mark Fuldauer and Daniel Ciccarelli, props by Darlene
Fowler, and technical direction/production management by Chris Satola, and the Garfield
Players appear poised to treat audiences to a monumental musical production.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b style="">THE DROWSY CHAPERONE</b>
is the tale of a modern day musical theater maven, known simply as "Man in
Chair." To chase his blues away, he drops the needle on his favorite LP -
the 1928 musical comedy, <i style="">The Drowsy
Chaperone</i>.<span style="">  </span>From the crackle of
his hi-fi, the musical magically bursts to life on-stage telling the tale of
the pampered Broadway starlet who wants to give up showbiz to get hitched and
her producer's attempts to sabotage her impending nuptials. Hilarious antics
ensue with her chaperone, the debonair groom, the dizzy chorus girl, the Latin
lover and a pair of gangsters masquerading as pastry chefs. Man in Chair's love
of The Drowsy Chaperone speaks to anyone who has ever been transported by the
theater.</p>

Hersh (a lesbian aviatrix), Jeremy Janik (the Latin lothario), Jennifer Justice
(ensemble), Stuart Landes (the blustery Follies producer), Allison Lehr (the
Broadway starlet), Kristopher North (ensemble), Diane Pedee (the wistful
hostess), Donald Pedley (the butler), Crystal Roberts (ensemble), Jonathan
Short (Gangster), Monica Zach (ensemble), Joey Cayabyab (ensemble), and David Turner (ensemble). </b></p>

the box office ticket line at 216.475.8313, and also at the door the night of
the show. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students ages 14-18,
and $8 for children 13 and under.<span style=""> 
</span>Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm (with the exception of
Friday, November 12, when the theatre will be “dark”) and Sundays at 3pm.
Although there is no adult language, some of the story elements may not be
suitable for children, so parental discretion is advised. Groups of 10 or more
should contact the box office ticket line for group rates. </p>
