ward at their ancestral mansion in the Scottish countryside. Strained relations become a tour de force when the young couple asks them to travel to California to bring back a baby that they intend to adopt. The problem is that John and Maude despise each other and to make matters worse they get stranded in San Francisco for several weeks and must jointly care for the newborn.
