<p style="font-size: 10pt; font-weight: normal; font-family:

- Acclaimed local actor <strong>Robert Hawkes</strong>
will return to Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's River
Street Playhouse stage after an absence of twenty years in
<strong>UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL</strong>. The long-form
monologue by Glen Berger ran for over 450 performances
Off-Broadway, won the 2001 Ovation Award (Los Angeles) and
2003 Sterling Award (Edmonton) for Best Play, and was
selected as one of Time Out New York's Ten Best Plays of
2001. The CVLT production, which runs April 29 to May 14,
joins a long list of productions in over 55 cities in 8
countries. Full of both pathos and humor, Glen Berger's
play both entertains and illuminates.</p>
<p style="font-size: 10pt; font-weight: normal; font-family:
arial,sans-serif; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"><strong>UNDERNEATH
THE LINTEL</strong> is the tale of a Dutch librarian.
One morning in 1986, he discover a book in the return slot
which had been checked out 113 years earlier. He is
outraged at this disregard for library decorum, and
becomes determined to find the party responsible and
collect the appropriate fine. A clue scribbled in the
margin of the book and an unclaimed dry-cleaning ticket
set him off on a quest that not only spans the physical
world, but becomes a journey of remarkable spiritual
discovery. A tale of seemingly petty bureaucratic
procedure becomes the stuff of profound revelation about
our relationship to responsibility, fate, humanity, and
God. </p>
