The class will be held 12noon to 3pm. Students may only miss one class and must make up work for that class. This is a working classroom environment and students will be expected to cast, create, and rehearse 4 scenes for in-class presentation. CPT space may be available to students for class work on a limited basis.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:10.0pt;text-align:justify;line-height:115%'>Though this class is focused on directing it is open to actors, playwrights, designers, and others who are interested in creating devised work. We are seeking a class with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Class is limited and enrollment will be based on an application process. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:10.0pt;text-align:justify;line-height:115%'>The fee for the class is $750. CPT will accept up to ½ of this fee to be paid in “sweat-equity” volunteer work. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-bottom:10.0pt;text-align:justify;line-height:115%'>Raymond Bobgan is Executive Artistic Director of Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT), and was recently selected by <i>American Theatre Magazine </i>as one of twenty five artists shaping the future of American theatre. Raymond specializes in devising new plays through an ensemble‐driven process and has created over twenty new performances. Raymond’s most recent work, <i>Insomnia</i>, created with Holly Holsinger, Chris Seibert, and Anne McEvoy, received rave reviews. <i>Cut to Pieces</i>, created with Chris Seibert, is being developed for touring for 2011-13. <i>Blue Sky Transmission: A Tibetan Book of the Dead </i>played Off‐Broadway at La Mama Theatre and was lauded in <i>The New York Times </i>and<i> American Theatre Magazine.</i> <i>Confessions of Punch and Judy, </i>co-created with Tannis Kowalchuk and Ker Wells, played at Toronto<i> </i>Theatre Centre and HERE Arts Center in New York, toured US, Canada, and Europe, and was<i> </i>recently published in <i>New Canadian Theatre Volume 9: Devised Theatre.</i> Raymond has also initiated, designed, and implemented numerous outreach projects including CPT’s <i>Student Theatre Enrichment Program</i>, a job training program for inner-city teens, <i>Brick City Theatre </i>which offers after‐school arts to youth residents of public housing and the <i>Y‐Haven Theatre Project </i>which engages homeless men, in theatre creation and production. Raymond’s theatrical work has been featured in <i>American Theatre Magazine</i>, <i>Canadian Theatre</i> <i>Review</i>, <i>Theatre Journal</i>, and in Lisa Wolford’s book <i>Grotowski’s Objective Drama Research</i>. His work has been seen in Romania, Brazil, Denmark, Serbia, Turkey, The United Kingdom, and throughout Canada and the US. He was recently awarded an Artistic Excellence fellowship from the Ohio Arts Council and was a premiere recipient of the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture’s Creative Workforce Fellowship, funded by Cuyahoga Arts and Culture.
