Hairspray
is the story of Tracy Turnblad, the lovable plus-size heroine in the
1960’s as she dances her way to a spot on the local TV dance program,
“The Corny Collins Show.” Overnight she is transformed from a pudgy
outsider to a teen celebrity. Tracy uses this celebrity to integrate the
show while kicking the program’s reigning princess to the curb and
winning the heart of Link Larkin. This show is musical comedy that makes
a clear statement about integration in an era of inequality and
strained race relations.

This is a show with many principals and
a dynamic, active ensemble. For character breakdowns and more
information, call Players Guild Theatre at 330-453-7619
