<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><b><span style="FONT-SIZE: 16pt"><font face="Calibri">AUDITION PREPARATION</font></span></b><span style="FONT-SIZE: 16pt"><br></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"><font face="Calibri">Those auditioning should prepare a memorized one-minute theater song and a memorized one-minute contemporary monologue.<span>  </span>Performers are also expected to bring sheet music in the appropriate key (an audition accompanist will be provided by SCA) a headshot, a resume and be prepared to inform SCA of any rehearsal conflicts. As you make your song choice, please keep in mind that the score of “The Christmas Carol Rag” incorporates popular songs of the early 19^th century.<span>  </span></font></span></p>

<p style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 14pt"><font face="Calibri">“The Christmas Carol Rag” is set in the early years of the 20^th century in a time of ragtime and sweatshops. Ebenezer Scrooge is gone, replaced by Evelyn Scrooge, who runs her sweatshop with an iron fist.<span>  </span>She finds redemption after being visited by a Yiddish-spouting Ghost of Christmas Past and a gospel-wailing Ghost of Christmas Present. The score, which includes work by Victor Herbert and George M. Cohan, brings the age old Christmas story to life with rousing production numbers set to familiar songs from "Hello, My Baby" to "The Streets of New York." Wildly funny and deeply moving, “<span>The Christmas Carol Rag” </span>brings a new twist to an old chestnut.</font></span></p>
