Enlow</B>, <FONT color=#1f497d><FONT color=#000000>formerly of Northeast Ohio and now</FONT> </FONT>Associate Professor of Theatre Arts: Scenic and Lighting Designer, University of the Pacific, Stockton, California conducts this unique and valuable workshop that will teach participants how to create and produce stage quality, actor proof, convincing props out of component items that share inherent shape attributes with the larger, complete objects. Participants are encouraged to bring a picture or description of a per<VAR id=yiv334496356yui-ie-cursor></VAR>iod or set prop that cannot be purchased and/or would be cost prohibitive for the theater (maybe even one that will be required in an upcoming production or was needed for a production in the past). Mr Enlow will demonstrate how good research and accompanying
drawings or pictures are the best start, followed by a search of available resources, local companies and thrift shops for articles capable of being cannibalized (bought due to an inherent shape attribute within the larger object) and repeating this search until all the parts are in place to assemble an acceptable prop fashioned from the collected objects. Most community and even professional theaters don't realize what options may be available to supply an affordable solution. This workshop will provide such a basis and background that we all can benefit from in our efforts to produce affordable, high quality productions. This workshop is sure to fill up so register early! Enlow is an Ohio native and has done scenic and/or lighting design at the University of the Pacific for over 24 productions and also works with the Sierra Repertory Theatre, Sonora California having served as scenic designer for Little Women, Damn Yankees, South Pacific, The Full Monty, Hairspray and more. Other clients include: Shakespeare’s Associates Livermore Shakespeare Festival, Bear Valley Music Festival/Opera Institute, Brubeck Institute – Monterey Jazz Festival and more. He is also a 2009 & 2010 Apollo Pattern Design Competition Winner for steel templates, a 2005 & 2009 participant in 1<SUP>st</SUP> and 2<SUP>nd</SUP> World Stage Design Competitions, a 2006 KCACTF Region Eight Design Fellowship Award Winner and is a member of USITT National and Regional Chapters.
