spot to attend</div><div><br></div>This workshop is an introduction to the technique of acting for on camera commercials. In this short workshop we will cover the basic techniques in auditioning for commercial television. This is a multi layered process that is a unique technique in the professional actors toolbox. Students will be introduced to:<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 20px; ">• Camera and Cue Card Techniques<br>• Blocking and Hitting the Mark<br>• Working with Props<br>• Improvisational Skills<br></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; line-height: 20px; ">• Personal Interviews</span></div><div>These are the beginning steps in order to gain a rewarding and successful commercial acting career. </div><div><br></div><div>The class will be divided into parts. This is
an on camera class</div><div>1. Copy will be given at the beginning of class and the actor will go on camera after a short time preparing the material. (This type of audition is called a cold read and is what the commercial actor will be asked to do a majority of the time.)</div><div>2. The actor will then work one on one with Jason on the same copy and will be taped on camera for a second time. We will finish by viewing both tapings of the actors audition and discuss the differences we see in performance due to working on the basics of the techniques.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Jason Kaufman has spent the last 12 years as an actor in NYC, LA, performing in the regions and internationally on stage. He has appeared in many film and television shows along with numerous national commercials. He can be seen on such televesion shows as Dexter, Medium, Without a Trace, CSI Miami, The Unit and as Sebastian in the
Pilot Crazy Sexy Awkward. He just completed an alternate cut of the film Passion Play called China White playing the young Nate Poole. He stars with Mickery Rourke as Nate Poole, Megan Fox and Bill Murray. He Holds an MFA from the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University and the Moscow Art Theatre School. He has completed the Meisner program in NYC with William Esper for a two year associates degree and has been teaching acting for many years as a private coach with clients including Edi Gathegi(Twilight, X men, House), Chris Messina(voted top ten actors to watch in 2009, Vicki Christina Barcelona, Devil and many more) and Jeff Branson(daytime emmy award winner.)
