voice to urban culture and to provide opportunities for actors of color.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:Calibri"><o:p> </o:p></span>A staged reading of <i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Daybreak’s Children</i>, written by Akron

playwright John Dayo-Aliya, will be the company’s inaugural production.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Performance dates are Thursday, November

17 through Friday, November 18 at 8 pm and Saturday, November 19 at 3 pm and 8

held at the Balch Street Theatre located at 220 S. Balch Street, Akron, OH. The

Balch Street Theatre was recently renovated by the Center for Applied Theatre

and Active Culture (CATAC) and serves as the home for New World Performance

Laboratory.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><i style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal"><span style="font-family:Calibri">Daybreak’s Children </span></i><span style="font-family:Calibri">explores the black experience in present day

America.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>But it’s a story that

surpasses cultural boundaries.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Sammie,

the oldest child and only son, has returned to the family home after the loss

of his male lover.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Educated at

Columbia University, Sammie is unable to find a job in provincial Memphis,

Tennessee.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>When Sammie suspects

his father of relapsing on his crack addiction, the family can no longer keep
