have been working with three students from varying majors and backgrounds on a
project about autism this semester. We have been meeting and learning
about autism; the science, the history, the memoirs, and fiction pieces that
talk about autism. The students have interviewed several people,
including parents, families, doctors, educators, and those who have autism, as
well. </span></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">
</font><p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: "Minion Pro","serif"; font-size: 12pt;"> </span></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">

project will hopefully educate high school and college students, as well as the
broader public about autism. The hope is to educate those who come to the
performances about the power of the arts to illustrate the dynamic between
those living with the disease and those providing their care, about the lives
of those who may be quite different from themselves, and about the role of the
arts in the ongoing conversation of health care in this country.</span></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">

title of their piece is “It’s Okay.” “It’s Okay” follows the life of a
person with Asperger’s Syndrome, a high functioning form of autism, from
elementary school through adulthood. It demonstrates the many challenges
a person with Asperger’s Syndrome may face growing up in what can be a
challenging world for a neurotypical person, but an unequivocal anxiety-producing
world for someone with Asperger’s Syndrome.</span></p><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">
