She has been an acting instructor for the DEAP program at Dobama for the last two seasons. Recent directing credits include William Shakespeare’s <i>Twelfth Night</i>, Ellen McLaughlin's <i>The Trojan Women</i>, and Federico Garcia Lorca's <i>Blood Wedding. </i>Leighann earned an MFA in acting from the University of South Carolina, completing her graduate program with a professional acting internship with The Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC. There she appeared in five productions, sharing the stage with Dixie Carter in <i>A Woman of No Importance</i> and Hal Holbrook in <i>The Merchant of Venice. <br></i>Leighann served as the Co-Artistic Director of Arts United of Washington, a non-profit performing arts company for two years directing their inaugural production of Racine’s <i>Phedre</i> and the original work <i>Meet Me at the Cafe.</i> She has taught and directed for The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s summer intensive programs and also served as a member of the theatre's master acting class faculty. Other directing and teaching credits include the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, the nationally recognized Fillmore Arts Center, the DC public schools, and the college preparatory program at Georgetown University. Previous acting roles have included Antigone in Anhouilh's <i>Antigone</i>, Sylvia in <i>The Two Gentlemen of</i> <i>Verona</i>, Ibid in <i>The Profession</i> and Sonya in <i>Uncle Vanya</i>. Leighann made her Cleveland acting debut at the Bang and the Clatter in May of 2009 in Neil Labute's <i>This Is How it</i> <i>Goes</i>.
