This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle>Vaccaro, an associate professor of music, will offer a performance of original guitar-amplifier-computer compositions. He composed, produced and engineered the featured works, entitled <i>Distillations</i>, which consists of electro-acoustic music, and <i>Improvisations,</i> featuring an evolving, ambient, textural sound montage. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle>A recipient of numerous commendations, awards and commissions for his work as a composer, Vaccaro’s music has been performed by the Tosca String Quartet, the Vinca Quartet and the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, among others. The soloist and ensemble performer was a guitarist for the bands, Kallisti and Coefficient of Friction. His group, Free Love Ensemble, was praised for its blend of “cutting-edge jazz with rock influences and motifs inspired by 20th century classical music” (Westword). From 2007-08, he was curator on a series for experimental music, sound installations and audio/visual works, entitled <i>Soundscapes</i>. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle>Recently, Vaccaro earned a nomination for the Motion Pictures Sound Editors Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing: Short Form Documentary in Television for his work on the PBS documentary, <i>Above the Ashes</i>.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle><b><o:p> </o:p></b></p><p class=NoParagraphStyle>For more information, contact the Music Department at 330-244-5151.
