</span>Willie the Shake’s Greatest Hits:<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>Very Tragical Mirth!<br>

<p class="MsoNormal">Miller South School for the Visual &
Performing Arts
presents “Willie the Shake’s Greatest Hits,” featuring some of
William
Shakespeare’s greatest scenes, soliloquies, sonnets, quotes,
songs, romances, insults, compliments, battles and dances, as
performed by a cast of 39 students in grades 4 through 8.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>In addition, each of the
four drama
classes (93 students) will join the cast to present choral
renditions of four
pieces they have been working on in class.

<p class="MsoNormal">The cast began working once a week last fall in
a workshop format, learning to speak and understand Shakespeare’s
words.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Using choral
speech and
choreographed actions, the students delved into some of
Shakespeare’s most
memorable speeches such as Hamlet’s “To Be or Not to Be”,
Macbeth’s “Tomorrow
and Tomorrow and Tomorrow”, and Richard III’s “Now is the Winter
of Our
Discontent.” </p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Scenes from Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, King
Lear,
Hamlet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream will be presented along with
some
entertaining and educational scenes featuring Shakespearean
quotes, insults and
compliments.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Under the
direction
of drama teacher, Wendy S. Duke, the students helped to research
and write the
narrative transitions and scene introductions.<span
style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>The production features technical direction by
Tim “Buffo”
Shuff, choreography by Sarah Christman, and live Renaissance music
performed by
7<sup>th</sup> and 8<sup>th</sup> grade orchestra and band
students under the
direction of Doug Bayda.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The performances will take place on Thursday,
March 29 at 7
PM, Friday, March 30 at 9 AM and on Friday, March 31 at 7 PM in
the Margo
Snider Theatre, 1055 East Ave, Akron OH 44307.<span
style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>Reserved Orchestra seats are $10, general
admission for
adults is $7 and $5 for students and senior citizens.<span
