Generations of Imbeciles", the runner-up in our first annual Great Lakes
Playwright’s Competition, is set against historical injustices that
violated the rights of some of our society's more unfortunate citizens. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class=MsoNormal>Making its stage debut in 1955, Trouble in Mind is a
race-relations dramedy that very nearly made Alice Childress the first black
woman playwright to have a show produced on Broadway. The story details the
social and psychological pressures a mixed-race troupe of actors faces while
prepping a well-meaning but visibly stereotyped anti-lynching melodrama for its
Broadway debut.<o:p></o:p></p>
