orchestra to the stage for "Roar of the Greasepaint"</h2>

FALLS, OH - Chagrin Valley Little Theatre, now opening its
83rd season, presents its fifth annual musical event
featuring the nearly 30-piece Chagrin Falls Studio
Orchestra, as director Don Edelman and conductor Stephen
A. Eva team up for Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley's
1965 Broadway musical THE ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT – THE
SMELL OF THE CROWD this weekend. It has become
increasingly uncommon for a local theater to present a
complete musical with full orchestration, making CVLT's
annual collaborations with the CFSO a rare treat.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;" align="left">Just in
time for the heat of the election season and relevant as
ever, ROAR OF THE GREASEPAINT is an allegorical satire on
the British class system, which demonstrates how the
working class can't get ahead because of the constantly
changing rules and social structures. Many of the songs in
the score became standards, including "A Wonderful Day
Like Today", "The Joker", "Who Can I Turn To?", "The
Beautiful Land" (made famous by Tony Bennett), and
"Feeling Good" (a hit for Nina Simone, and more recently
Michael Bublé). </p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:

Leslie Bricusse is a multiple Academy Award nominee, with
nominations for nine Grammys and four Tonys. He has two
Oscars, a Grammy and eight Ivor Novello Awards. Bricusse's
other musicals include <i>Stop The World – I Want To Get
Off </i>(1961), <i>Goodbye, Mr Chips</i> (1969), <i>Scrooge
</i>(1970), <i>Sherlock Holmes – The Musical </i>(1989)
and <i>Jekyll And Hyde</i> (1997). Anthony Newley, who
also was also the book writer, composer and lyricist also
had an acting, singing and directing career that spanned
more than 50 years - he died in 1999. The duo collaborated
on many works, including the beloved songs for Gene
Wilder's <i>Charlie and the Chocolate Factory</i> film. </p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:

production features Bob Keefe as the aristocratic 'Sir',
and Dan Hoy as the working class 'Cocky'. Caitlin Houlahan
appears as 'The Kid', Evie Koh as 'The Girl', Brian Keith
Johnson as 'The Negro' and Jerry Schaber as 'The Bully'.
The production also features a chorus of young street
urchins, played by Sophi Dennis, Jeanne Greminger, Sophie
Longo, Emily McCulley, Ashleigh Nagy, and Lilly Saunders.
Ida Porris serves as choreographer. </p>
