for what is sure to be a Rockabilly Riot on Friday, November 9th! Keith Jones and The Makeshifts
are truly a throwback to the late 40's early 50's. Taking their
inspiration from the early jump blues artists along with traditional
rockabilly; they create a sound that while fresh, seems to channel these
great<div class="text_exposed_show"> decades of the past. The
Makeshifts are influenced by greats such as Buddy Holly, and Elvis as
well as Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris and Big Joe Turner, to name a few. The Makeshifts' songs are jam-packed with quick and creative guitar
solos, soulful singing, swingin' bass walks and solid, thumping drum
beats. Every song they play, while respectful to the original, is
tweaked into the Makeshifts' style, which is full of spirit and
spontaneity.<br> <br> The cost of the dance is $12 per person or $10 for students and seniors with a valid ID<br> <br> Be sure to arrive in time to take part in the easy jitterbug lesson from 8pm to 9pm<br> <br> Immediately after the lesson (at 9 PM) the band will kick off an awesome night of music and swing dancing until 12am.<br> <br>
We are THRILLED to welcome back Keith Jones & The Makeshifts! We
had a blast with them at the Waterloo dance in June and we have been
eagerly awaiting their return ever since!<br> <br> Everyone is welcome
to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no need to
have previous dance experience or a dance partner. Most people dress casually. The best shoes to wear are comfortable and not too sticky on the bottom.<br> <br>
The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue,
Lakewood, Ohio 44107. There is a parking lot in the back and plenty of
street parking available too. Please enter the building through the

We are doing a canned food drive in cooperation with the Lakewood
Masonic Temple. PLEASE bring any non-perishable food items you have to
the dance on Friday and they will be packaged into gift baskets that
will be donated to local families and people in need for Thanksgiving.
For every item that you donate you will receive one entry in a drawing for many great prizes such as free Get Hep Swing dance passes,
