size="2">Free</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">The Far East meets the Deep South as virtuoso fiddler <span style="font-weight: bold;">Ed Caner</span> joins members of the<span style="font-weight: bold;">Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble</span> for a lively cross-cultural program exploring the intersections between the string band music of Appalachia and the "silk and bamboo" ensemble tradition of China.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br></font></div><div><font size="2">Selections will include both Chinese and American folk songs, played by a combination of Western and Chinese instruments, including violin, viola, banjo, guitar, accordion, <span style="font-style: italic;">dizi</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">xiao </span>(bamboo flutes), <span style="font-style: italic;">sheng</span> (mouth organ), <span style="font-style: italic;">dahu</span> (bass
fiddle), <span style="font-style: italic;">pipa</span> (pear-shaped lute), and <span style="font-style: italic;">yueqin</span> (moon lute).
