Erie-based band The Red Hot Rug Cutters features Larry Kownacki on
saxophone, Dan Reese on vocals and piano, Shawn Phelps on guitar, Doug
Russell on upright bass and John Musatto on drums. Dan Reese and Shawn
Phelps formed the band with the idea to perform “dancer friendly” music.
They play songs in the style of jump blues artists from the 1930’s,
40’s and 50’s such as Wynonie Harris, Louis Jordan, Louis Prima, and Big
Joe Turner and more contemporary jump blues artists such as The Mighty
Blues Kings, 2000 Lbs. of Blues and Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers.
Rounding out their repertoire are jazz standards and some rockabilly
songs for a great mixture of tunes they bill as “fun, toe tapping, dance
inducing music that all types of people will enjoy.”<br> <br> Everyone
is welcome to come and have fun with us at the swing dance. There is no
need to have previous dance experience or a dance partner.<br> <br>
Most people dress casually unless there is a special theme. The best
shoes to wear are comfortable and not too sticky on the bottom.<br> <br>
The Lakewood Masonic Temple is located at 15300 Detroit Avenue,
Lakewood, Ohio 44107. There is a parking lot in the back and plenty of
street parking available too. Please enter the building through the
front. <br> <br> Please see <a href="http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.GetHepSwing.com&h=5AQFhEGjZ&s=1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow nofollow">www.GetHepSwing.com</a>
