<h2 style="font-size:12pt; font-weight: bold; font-family:
sans-serif; text-transform: uppercase">CVLT's "Putting It
Together" by Sondheim, an unusual musical revue</h2>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;" align="left">CHAGRIN
FALLS, OH - Stephen Sondheim is undeniably one of the most
important figures in American musical theater. In a career
spanning nearly fifty years, he has been the recipient of
eight Tony Awards, multiple Grammy Awards, the Laurence
Olivier Award, an Academy Award, and the Pulitzer Prize.
Chagrin Valley Little Theatre's spring musical, PUTTING IT
TOGETHER, which opens on March 22 and runs weekends
through April 20, combines songs from some of Sondheim's
best scores into an unusual musical revue.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;" align="left">As may be
expected of any work by Sondheim, PUTTING IT TOGETHER is
smart, sophisticated, dry humored, and anything but
typical. Unlike most musical revues, which simply trot out
the hits, Sondheim uses PUTTING IT TOGETHER to wrap his
old songs in a new context. A Manhattan anniversary party
serves as the setting, as a cast of five sing more than
thirty songs that reflect their lives and loves. The show
pulls together material from some of Sondheim's most
beloved works, including <em>Sunday in the Park with
George,</em> <em>Assassins,</em> <em>Company,</em> <em>Merrily
We Roll Along,</em> <em>A Funny Thing Happened on the
Way to the Forum,</em> <em>A Little Night Music,</em> <em>Sweeney
Todd</em> and others. Some of the songs will be
familiar, and others not so familiar; particularly those
which were cut from their original shows and make their
first appearances in this score.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;" align="left">Under the
direction of Marc C. Howard and musical director D. Keith
Stiver, the Chagrin Valley Little Theatre production
features five talented newcomers to the CVLT stage; Laura
Giterman and Thomas E. Love appear as a glamorous,
somewhat jaded married couple, while Hope Caldwell and
Derrick Winger appear as a younger and more starry-eyed
pair. Brian Picola plays observer and commentator as the
party goers confront the joy and pain of marriage,
infidelity and divorce through Sondheim's witty wordplay
and timeless melodies.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;" align="left">PUTTING IT
TOGETHER plays Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 PM, March
22 - April 20, 2013, with one Sunday matinee at 2 PM on
April 7. Tickets are $18 regular, $14 students and
seniors. Tickets and information are available at Chagrin
Valley Little Theatre's website - <a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="http://www.CVLT.org">www.CVLT.org</a>, or by
phone at 440-247-8955 between 1-6 PM, Monday through
Saturday. Chagrin Valley Little Theatre is located at 40
River Street in historic Chagrin Falls Village. CVLT is

Cuyahoga Arts and Culture and supported by the Ohio Arts
Council.</p>
