<p><font face="Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#2f4f4f"><font face="Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">Lorain County Community College honored 1,362 graduates – the most in its history – and 309 University Partnership graduates during its 49th annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18 in the LCCC Ewing Activities Center. LCCC Professor Bruce Weigl – a 2013 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in Poetry and a Vietnam Veteran – was the keynote speaker. </font></font></font></font></font></p>
<p><font face="Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#2f4f4f"><font face="Trebuchet MS, Helvetica, sans-serif"><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">This year 117 students received two degrees and 18 received three degrees, for a total of 1,515 degrees being awarded. <p><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">Sixty-five students graduated from Lorain County Early College High School on Saturday, May 18 at Lorain County Community College. These students earned both their high school diplomas and their associate of arts degrees.</font></font></p>
<p><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">Thirty-three students have been accepted and plan to attend four-year universities following graduation. Twenty-six students will continue their education through programs at LCCC and The University Partnership. <p style="text-align: left"><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2"> Jeffrey Mumford, a gifted composer and one of Lorain County Community College's Distinguished Professors, was honored this past February as composer-in-residence at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. During this time the gallery presented three concerts featuring his incredible new music compositions. </font></font></p>
<p style="text-align: left"> <font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">"I was deeply honored to be associated with one of my favorite institutions in the world. <p><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">Cristy Plas, 30, of LaGrange, is one of 309 graduates who earned a degree through Lorain County Community College's University Partnership this year.</font></font></p>
<p><font color="#333333"><font face="Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif" size="2">"When I made up my mind to return to school, it opened up a new world for me," said Plas. She began her educational career, like most, right out of high school, but realized she was not ready.</font></font></p>
