opener at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 West 13th Street in
Ashtabula, will continue for one final weekend of performances on June 20,
21, 22. “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” was inspired by the
farces of the ancient Roman playwright Plautus (251–183 BC). With a delightful
score by Stephen Sondheim, “Forum” tells a musical story of a scheming slave
named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his young master
woo the girl next door. Filled with puns, slamming doors, disguises and mistaken
identities, the musical’s original 1963 Broadway run won several Tony Awards,
including Best Musical and Best Book. </SPAN><SPAN
