The Hathaway Brown Theatre Institute (HBTI) will be offering
two single half-day workshops for Dialects and one half-day workshop for Dance Partnering & Stage Combat this January!!!

Dialects: Since plays are written by writers from all over the
world, and plays
are set in cities all over the world, these workshops will help the
actor
learn some of the most frequently used dialects and have fun at the same
time! Even within our own borders we can hear a huge variation of
speech. Each of these two dialect workshops will focus on a regional
American accent, specifically a "Southern" and a "New York" dialect. As
there are many plays and musicals from those regions, a single workshop
will focus on each of the dialects. The student's work with dialects
will culminate by it being put into the context of a scene. These
workshops will
only be available for Grades 5-12. The "Southern" Dialect workshop will
be on January 2, 2014 from 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM and the "New York" Dialect
workshop will be on January 3, 2014 from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
