Mr. Kraler and his assistant, Miep, prepare the hiding place in rooms above their place of business, and arrange for the Franks and others, including Mrs. Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan and their son Peter, to hide there from the Nazis. They are joined by dentist, Mr. Dussel and together, they try to avoid detection while waiting for Holland to be liberated by the Allies. Throughout their hiding, simply meeting basic needs becomes a challenge for the inhabitants, and minor incidents in their life in hiding present grave risks for all of them. During their confinement, Anne discovers herself as a beautiful, thoughtful, and extraordinary girl. Her story is a timeless reminder to us all of man’s inhumanity to man, but more important, of the power of the human spirit.
