<i>Cermonies in Dark Old Men</i> by<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoBodyText" style="line-height:normal">Lonne Elder III from January 31 to February 23, 2014 in its Arena Theatre.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">This play concerns the ceremonies acted out by African American men.
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Mr. Russel B. Parker owns a floundering barbershop on 126<sup>th</sup> Street in Harlem.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">He is kept afloat by the fact that his daughter Adele works, which gives the family enough of an income to survive. His sons Bobby and Theo are attracted to a life of crime.
Mr. William Jenkins, the other “Dark Old Man” of the title, finds a sanctuary in Parker’s barbershop, where he trades insults and dares with Parker and plays checkers. This is part of the “ceremonies” of the title. The barbershop provides a place where the
two dark old men can be insulated from a society in which they have failed under the norms of capitalism and a racist culture.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoBodyText" style="line-height:normal">The talented cast consists of Peter Lawson Jones as Mr. Russel B. Parker the barbershop owner, Katrice Monee Headd as his daughter, Adele, LaShawn Lawrence as his son Bobby, Prophet Seay as his son Theopolis;
Kenny Parker as a Harlem Crime Boss, Cornel Calhoun III as Mr. Jenkins the barbershop customer and Christal Christian as a Young Girl. Come see some of your most familiar actors as you have never seen them perform in this dramatic play. Order your tickets
