<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>A week ago, MetroHealth Medical Center asked Northeast Ohio musicians if they would enter a contest to see who could write and perform the best song about the west-side hospital.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>Dozens of them said yes.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>So the contest is a go.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>The health care system will give $2,500 to whoever comes up with the best, original unpublished song about MetroHealth as it kicks off plans to transform its campus and the West 25<SUP>th</SUP> Street neighborhood around it.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>Finalists, chosen by a panel of judges, must agree to perform at a family-friendly, outdoor music festival at MetroHealth on the afternoon of Saturday September 13. Each finalist would be given 30 minutes to perform a short set that will include their MetroHealth song. In exchange for the prize money, MetroHealth will have rights to the song and work with the winner on possible future performances.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>Sound engineering, stage, drum kit, microphones, amps, an MC, tents (should it rain) and assistance setting up and tearing down between performers will be provided.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>Those who enter must send a representative to a meeting at the hospital’s main campus -- 2500 MetroHealth Drive, Cleveland, OH, 44109 -- to hear the rules, learn what makes the hospital a vital part of Cleveland and receive written material that will help inform their lyrics. <B style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">To reserve a spot, go to metrohealth.org/musicfestival.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><o:p></o:p></B></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>That meeting, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15, will include a brief tour of the hospital’s Life Flight helipad and other locations.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt" class=MsoNormal><FONT size=3><FONT face=Calibri>Deadline to enter the contest will be midnight Aug. 14. Videos – smartphone videos are fine – will be your entry. We’ll provide details on where to send/upload those at the July 15 meeting.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></P>
