Cleveland, Ohio, Tuskegee Airmen, CPL Roy Richardson, the late Lt. Col Clarence
Jamison, the late SSG Thomas Austin, the late Cpl. James Travis, sharing their
WW II experiences.<span class="" style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span><i id="yui_3_16_0_1_1431283441164_3011" class="" style="mso-bidi-font-style:normal">Commemorative</i> was compiled and written by local playwright Vickie
L. Williams who generally writes plays based on social interest and newsworthy
issues. </span></div>

fifteen thousand Tuskegee Airmen who were part of a government experiment to
see if colored men were competent enough to fly.<span class="" style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>That fifteen thousand included pilots,
engineers, gunners, and many more technical and support service members.<span class="" style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Not only did the Tuskegee Airmen prove they
were competent, they had broken records during World War II that earned them
the Distinguished Service Medal and that paved the way to equality in the
United States military.<span class="" style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>Now, in 2015, there
are a few hundred of them surviving nationwide and only one of them in
Cleveland, Ohio.</span></div>
