<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The <b>Children’s Choruses</b> are open to students in grades 5-9. Auditions will be held on June 6 and 13. The Children’s Chorus, formed in 1967, provides musical training in vocal production
and choral performance skills. Performance highlights for the <b>Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus</b> (Ann Usher, director) will include Mahler’s Symphony No. 3 and Christmas concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus at Severance Hall.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The <b>Children’s Preparatory Chorus</b> (Suzanne Walters, director) performs two concerts each season. Members are provided with initial choral experiences to which younger singers may not
have been exposed. By developing musical skills and performing in public, the children acquire poise, increase self esteem, and establish a solid foundation in techniques.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The Children’s Choruses rehearse on Monday nights. Their season begins in September and runs through May.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">For the audition, the child will sing one verse of “America” (My country, ‘tis of thee) with piano accompaniment in the key of his or her choice and one verse of “America the Beautiful” (Oh
beautiful for spacious skies) without accompaniment in the key of D. Singing scales and rhythmic exercises may also be included in the audition, for which an accompanist is provided.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Students in grades 9-12 and 8<sup>th</sup> grade boys with changed voices are welcome to audition for the
<b>Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus</b> (Lisa Wong, director) on May 23, 30, or June 14. Created in 1991, the Youth Chorus helps raise awareness of choral music-making in the schools of Northeastern Ohio and encourages students to continue their choral activities
through college and into adulthood. The Youth Chorus regularly collaborates with outstanding musical ensembles, and their 2015-16 season will include concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif""><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">The Youth Chorus rehearses on Sunday afternoons at Fairmount Temple in Beachwood. Its season runs from September to March.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"">Audition requirements are to prepare a piece from the OMEA Solo & Ensemble list, or an equivalent classical solo piece; Broadway or “pop” tunes are not acceptable. In addition to the prepared
piece, students will be asked to sight read and demonstrate their vocal range. An accompanist is provided at the audition.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
