K. Rickel Theatre. This show is the second in a four-part collaborative theatrical season between Rabbit Run Community Arts Association and Lake Erie College. The project, The Studio Series, is funded in part by a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Lake County Visitors Bureau Arts and Culture Fund. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Directed by Dr. Jerry Jaffe, assistant professor of theatre at LEC, “Misalliance” is a comedy of manners and one of Shaw’s wittier plays. Written in 1910, Shaw offers a study on the question of what becomes of traditional marriage in progressive, turn-of-the-century England.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Within the confines of one afternoon, no less than eight marriage proposals are issued in the country estate of self-made industrialist John Tarleton, played by Greg Gnau. Tarleton’s daughter, Hypatia, played by LEC student Jesse Gobol, is engaged to Bentley (LEC student Justin Keeler), the milquetoast son of Lord Summerhays (Roger Principe) who once asked Hypatia to marry him. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Tarleton’s son, Johnny (Connor McCarthy) and wife (Beverly Kristy) enters the mix as well as a mysterious man (Christopher Ashmun) armed with a gun and a picture of his dead mother, once a lover of Tarleton’s. To top things off, an airplane crashes into the estate’s greenhouse with family friend Joey (LEC alum Richard Keay) piloting the plane carrying the enchantress Lina (Evie Koh). <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal style='text-autospace:none'><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Shaw, one of the most celebrated playwrights in the English language, wrote over 80 plays. “Pygmalion” and “Arms and the Man” are perhaps his most famous and most frequently produced plays. There are numerous movies and adaptations, including the beloved musical version of “Pygmalion”, “My Fair Lady.” Shaw is also the motivation for the Shaw Festival every year in Ontario, Canada.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>“Misalliance” runs Nov. 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 15 and 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the C.K.
