Cleveland Theater is hosting auditions for August Wilson's Radio Golf. <span> </span>Part of Wilson's, The Century Cycle, it is the
last play in his 10-play series. Radio Golf takes place in Pittsburgh, PA, in
the 1990s. <span> </span>We are looking for 5 African-American
actors, 4 male and 1 female.</span></p>

price would you pay in order to stay true to yourself and beliefs? <span> </span>This is the dilemma we confront in Radio Golf.
<span> </span>Surrounded by a backdrop of politics,
ambitions, traditions and friendships, all involved must answer this question
for themselves.</span></p>

Wilks</span></u></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">:
African American (male, mid 30’s – to late 40’s)</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">A
real-estate developer, Ivy League-educated, well-spoken and ambitious. He
inherited the business from his father but he has big dreams of a very
prominent future in politics as well. While in the midst of a big housing
development project potentially worth millions, he is running to be the first
African-American Mayor of Pittsburgh. Harmond is honest to a fault and
committed to his beliefs.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><b><u><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">Mame
Wilks:</span></u></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">
African American (female, mid 30’s – to late 40’s)</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">Harmond’s
wife of many years, she is a well-educated, successful and ambitious public
relations executive. <span> </span>Though she is
rising within her own career, Mame wants Harmond to rise with her, so she is
helping him with his mayoral run. <span> </span>Mame
is smart and manipulative but caring. She will go to bat for what she believes
in but there are limits, even for her.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif"> </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><b><u><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">Roosevelt
Hicks: </span></u></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">African
American (male, late 30’s – 40’s) </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">Recently
promoted to a vice-presidential position at Mellon Bank, Roosevelt is clever
and a bit of a hustler. <span> </span>His education is
average but he has worked hard to get what he has. <span> </span>He is determined to overcome what he perceives
as the limitations placed on him by society and is willing to risk almost
anything to do it. <span> </span>A long-time friend of
Harmond, he is involved in the real-estate deal and mayoral campaign.</span></p>

Johnson:</span></u></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">
African American (male, mid to late 40’s)<br>
A neighborhood handyman/contractor, poorly educated and an old time friend of
Harmond. <span> </span>Life has not been kind to
Sterling so he is very rough around the edges but deceptively street smart. <span> </span>He robbed a bank many years ago and paid the
price.<span>  </span>Sterling has learned to be a
hustler through experience but wants what everyone wants, a good life.</span></p>

Joseph Barlow:</span></u></b><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">
African American (male, late 60’s – 70’s)</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0.0001pt;line-height:normal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:"bookman old style",serif">He
seems like the nicest man you could ever meet but Elder Joseph hides a dark
past. <span> </span>He presents an addled and feeble
demeanor with a wink and a smile but he has a criminal record that stretches
back many, many years. <span> </span>He is very clever
and sly in the way he hooks his victims. <span> </span>That is how he has gotten through life.
Harmond is his latest.</span></p>
