<h3 style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color:#000; font-size:10pt;">Chagrin Valley Little Theatre
to premiere one-acts at its fifth biennial "10-10 Festival
of New Plays"</h3>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio -
The Chagrin Valley Little Theatre will bring a fresh
series of one-act plays to its River Street Playhouse
stage as they launch their fifth biennial <em>10-10
Festival</em> on June 23. The selected scripts will be
staged in performances at 8 PM Fridays and Saturdays
through July 15, and on Sunday, July 9 at 2 PM.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;"> Directed by Yvonne E.
Pilarczyk and Dawn Hill,, each of the eleven one-act plays
is an Ohio premiere, and many are world-premiere stagings.
CVLT began the biennial 10-10 Festival in 2009, putting
out the call for short plays to be performed at its 65
seat second venue, adjacent to the main theater building.
"The first festival was a resounding success, receiving
submissions from all over Northeast Ohio and beyond,"
Pilarczyk said. "The following editions were equally a
hit."</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">The 2017 edition
received over 1200 scripts from playwrights across the US,
Canada, the UK, Israel, India, New Zealand and Australia.
The selection committee read every one of them and
whittled down to a lineup of ten:</p>

Interrogation</em> by Phil Darg of New Hope, MN, an
intimidating cop encounters a former meth-user. <em>Crickets</em> by
Bruce Boeck of Normal, IL invites us into the sweet,
post-wedding reminiscences the parents of the bride. "Gone
with the Wind" is given a fun and fast-paced retelling in
<em>GWTW Abridged</em> by Annie Taft of Chapel Hill, NC. A
widow tries to sell her wedding ring to a jeweler in <em>Hocking
Murray</em> by George Sapio of Spencer, NY. A fabulous,
stylish pair of shoes are the focus of the comedic
<em>Pumps</em> by Brett Hursey of Farmville, VA. <em>Two
Girls</em> by Allie Costa of Los Angeles, CA features
two women, two events, and two paths. The one-woman piece
<em>Slow Dating</em> by Adam Szudrich of Sydney, Australia
reminds us that experience doesn't cushion the realities
of dating. In <em>Front Desk</em> by John Lane of
Stanton, CA, a man meets the universe's toughest
concierge. <em>Roommates</em> by Matthew Fowler of
Astoria, NY reminds us that you can pick your friends, but
not necessarily who you live with<em></em>. Two strangers,
KFC, and Kim Kardashian figure into a night fit for a king
in <em>The King Of Earth</em> by Jordan Rawlins of Culver
CIty, CA. This year's <em>10-10 Festival </em>edition
also includes a bonus eleventh scene - <em>Business As
Usual</em> - based on a true story and penned by Chagrin
Falls local and CVLT luminary Donald Edelman.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">Pilarczyk, who has been
working as an actor and director in the Cleveland area for
more than 40 years and was instrumental in the launch of
the <em>10-10 Festival</em> says “the River Street
Playhouse is one of my favorite stages, as it allows the
freedom to present new, alternative, or edgier works than
the main stage at CVLT, and offers opportunities for
actors, directors, and audiences that aren't common in
community theater settings.”</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">“I appreciate the
opportunity that CVLT has bestowed on me to direct for the
very first time,” says co-director Dawn Hill. “I am very
excited to be working with Vonnie, the cast, and everyone
involved throughout this process.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">The troupe of actors
portraying the various roles include Andrew Gordon, Becca
Hosier, Catherine Remick, Don Knepper, James Barron, John
Hickman, Kathy Lamping, Mary Britta Shirring, Micki
McNiece-Yackin, Stephen Kay, Matthew Mortensen, Rose
Gabriele and Shannon Sidorick.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt; font-weight:normal;font-family:
arial, sans-serif; color:#000000;">Show times are 8 PM
Friday and Saturday nights 6/23 - 7/15, and 2 PM on 7/9.
All seats are $12. The River Street Playhouse is located
at 56 River Street, west of the main CVLT building.
