of an original musical “Blue Moon” at Theatre 8:15 in Green.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Theatre 8:15 is an historic building
housing an intimate stage. “Blue Moon” is the proud creation of playwright,
Richard Roman, who wrote the lyrics for the 14 musical numbers in the show to
the music of composer, Denis Couture.</FONT><SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">
</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 8pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">The concept of the musical love story began with the
creation of a touching song “As We Danced” and grew from there.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The whole theme of the musical is one’s
belief in fate or luck in changing the course of someone’s life.</FONT><SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"><FONT style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">
</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 8pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">Fate is played by Carrie Miller who has a full and
soulful voice and hauntingly carries the show from beginning to end.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Anna and Alek, the young lovers are
played by Reese Mangan and Cowen Swift. The two blend their voices in many duets
throughout the show.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Anna displays
a beautiful innocence and Alex, an awkward shyness.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Nicole Graham plays a doting matchmaking
friend and lends a beautiful voice to the show. Rosa’s bright red wig, however,
was slightly distracting. In fact, I question the use of wigs on Anna and
Tameron.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The use of wigs is
something that should be used only to add to the depth of the show, and in this
case, were merely distracting. Some comic relief was added by Adam Leventhal in
the role of Troy, Alek’s advice-giving friend. Susan Rusinoff lovingly filled
the role of Anna’s mother who only wanted her daughter to find the love and
happiness that she once had.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The
ensemble was filled with the voices of Caitlin Allshouse, Jordan Meeker, Carson
Coombs and Jaden Haller who were in various scenes and musical numbers
throughout the show.</FONT><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt"> </FONT></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 8pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">The show got bogged down by somewhat long and clumsy
scene changes and some of the video pictures were unnecessary and
disruptive.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Some of these problems
may get worked out as the show matures from opening night glitches.</FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 8pt; LINE-HEIGHT: 12pt"><FONT
style="FONT-SIZE: 11pt">The show was directed by Dawna Kornick.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The show runs Fridays and Saturdays
through October 14<SUP>th</SUP>, so don’t let the click of a clock let you miss
this new musical with meaningful lyrics and enchanting music.</FONT></P>
