<div>University School will be holding auditions for their spring musical <b><i>THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD</i></b> the week of December 4.</div>

<div>(Rehearsals, however, will not begin until the end of January)</div>

<div>This is a great opportunity to work with the very talented boys at University School.</div>

<div>Directed by Carol Jaffee Pribble</div>

<div>Musical direction by Daniel Singer (who conducts the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Choir)</div>

<div>Monday, December 4- 4:00-7:00 PM voice audition, prepare a song ( the whole song-memorized), bring sheet music for the accompanist. You can come any time between 4:00-7:00 PM</div>

<div>Tuesday, December 5- 6:00-9:00 PM acting audition, If you send me your home address, I will mail you scenes from the play you will be reading from.</div>

<div>Thursday, December 7- call backs, time TBD</div>

<div><b>THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD</b>:</div>

<div>It is 1873 and The Music Hall Royale in London is putting on a musical adaptation of Charles Dicken’s unfinished book<b><i> The Mystery of Edwin Drood.</i></b></div>

<div>Before Dickens could finish his book, he suffered a stroke and died, and therefore nobody actually knows who killed “Edwin Drood.”</div>

<div>Therefore, toward the end of the play, the audience must vote on the killer.</div>

<div>Full of colorful and exotic characters and big splashy musical numbers, “Drood” is a theatrical feast!</div>

<div><b>Female Roles</b>: (who sing solo)</div>

<div>Rosa Bud- strong first soprano, engaged to Edwin Drood -takes voice lessons from John Jasper, who lusts after her.</div>

<div>Edwin Drood- is played by a woman who is a male impersonator at the Music Hall Royale.</div>

<div>Princess Puffer- runs an opium den</div>

<div>Helena Landless- from India, she is Rosa Bud’s best friend and confidante</div>

<div>Wendy and Beatrice- friends of Rosa Bud.</div>

<div>Citizens of Cloisterham- (ensemble) sing and dance through a dozen musical numbers </div>
