A dark comedy about the curse of kinship just in time
for the holiday season </span></strong><span

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio – If you need to take a break from the
area’s too-sweet holiday entertainment offerings, CVLT's
River Street Playhouse may have your recipe with a ticket
to its production of the THE LYONS, a play with dark humor
and savage honesty opening 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24. The
theatre will present seven weekend performances through
Dec. 9. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays with
one 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, Dec. 3. </p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">Nicky
Silver’s play about the self-destructing Lyons family
appeared on Broadway in 2012. The setting is a hospital
room in which Ben Lyons (played by John Bruce) is dying of
cancer. His wife Rita (Mary Jane Nottage) and grown
children have gathered to his side. Rita is focused on
redecorating the house, while daughter Lisa (Catherine
Remick) is trying to stay sober, and son Curtis (Sean
McCormack) is trying to disconnect from everyone. No one
is safe as they voice their private thoughts out loud and
blame each other, revealing the curse of kinship. They
search for connection and find it in unexpected places.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">The
production is directed by Yvonne Pilarczyk and produced by
Cindee Edelman. The cast also includes Lisa Lazarczyk as
the nurse, and Justin Steck as Brian.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">
Due to adult language and subject matter, the play is
recommended for adults only. The intimate River Street
Playhouse, located at 56 River St. in Chagrin Falls, has
limited seating and parking, so early reservation and
parking are recommended - particularly since "Disney's
Beauty and the Beast" runs concurrently on CVLT's Main
Stage next door. Complimentary wine is available before
the performance and during intermission.</p>
