It is a conglomeration of dances that immigrants brought over from their homelands as a response to what was the latest craze in music- Jazz! Lindy is characterized by some of the same things that make Jazz music great; syncopated rhythms, creative improvisation, and call and fancy fundamental moves. The Balboa is loved for its fancy footwork, close connection, finesse and the ability to be done quite easily at all tempos. Balboa is most often done to big band swing from the 1930's. Many people have said that Balboa is the Tango of the Swing world. If you are interested in developing and refining your leading or following abilities, then Balboa is definitely the dance for you!
