<h3 style="font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
color:#000; font-size:12pt;">A Hollywood womanizer becomes
a woman himself in GOODBYE CHARLIE at CVLT</h3>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">CHAGRIN
FALLS, Ohio - Charlie Sorel, Hollywood screenwriter and
notorious womanizing cad, has been caught red-handed by
his lover's husband at a yacht party! Is it latest rumor
from TMZ? No, in fact it's the setup to George Axelrod's
farce GOODBYE CHARLIE, which opens at Chagrin Valley
Little Theatre on January 18 and plays Fridays and
Saturdays at 8 PM through February 2, with a 2 PM matinee
on January 27.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">The
play begins with Charlie's murder by the jealous husband.
Through divine fluke, he finds himself returned to the
land of the living… in the body of a woman. The
transformation of Charlie (played by Kourtney Highland)
proves a hilarious twist to his friendship with fellow
writer George Tracy (Christian Achkar) and puts him into
unexpected situations with his former mistress (Claudia
Lillibridge), his attorney (Timothy Botti), his agent (Eli
Ravensen), the tax man (Michael J. Rogan), and mourner
Franny (Victoria Kirgesner) as they arrive at his Malibu
beach house for the memorial.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">GOODBYE
CHARLIE opened on Broadway in 1959, following Axelrod's
successful <em>The Seven Year Itch</em>. The original
cast featured Lauren Bacall in the lead. The play moved to
the screen five years later as a vehicle for Debbie
Reynolds and Tony Curtis.</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">"Through
the lens of hindsight," says the play's director Mark
Seven, "it's enlightening to see how the understanding of
gender roles has changed in the past sixty-plus years. The
premise of a Hollywood gigolo getting a second chance at
life as a beautiful woman is intriguing and oh-so-much
fun!"</p>
<p style="font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size:10pt">Tickets
are $19 ($4 student/senior discount) at CVLT.org, by phone
at 440-247-8955, or at the Box Office at 40 River Street
1-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Advance reservations and
arrival are recommended.</p>
