<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Lorain County Community College’s division of Arts and Humanities will host a Civic Jazz Band concert featuring big band sound led by Jeffrey Meyers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday,
Feb. 9 at the Stocker Arts Center’s Hoke Theatre. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The “Big Band” is the jazz version of the classical symphony orchestra. It is the vehicle composers use for their grandest musical statements. The big band compositions
of Duke Ellington, Charlie Mingus and others changed the musical landscape of jazz. The concert will follow the development of the big band, from non-existence, to its standing today as the grandest of jazz ensembles.

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Lorain County Community College will hold auditions for the play “Six Characters in Search of an Author” from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10 and from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Feb.
11 at the Stocker Arts Center's Cirigliano Studio Theatre. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">The production will be directed by Stephanie Wilbert and performed April 25-27. The director is looking to cast 14 multi-generational actors with specific roles available
for a 10-15 year-old boy and 10-15 year-old girl. Auditions are open to all.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

Written by the Nobel Prize for Literature-winning playwright Luigi Pirandello, “Six Characters in Search of an Author” (adaptation by Robert Brustein) is an absurdist metatheatrical play about the relationship among authors, their characters and theatre practitioners.<br>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Actors will be asked to read from the script as well participate in a group audition. No prepared monologue is necessary. Copies of the script will be on reserve at the
LCCC Bass Library until the audition dates. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
