Her happy outlook carries a folksy wisdom.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">PAT CONLIN – 20s-30s. A fiery, Irish girl with a chip on her shoulder and the guts to back it up.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">GRACE LAMBERT – 20s. A worldly woman with a smart mouth.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">HELEN DOMERET – 20s. A mellow, lovely woman with a sharp tongue.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">NYDIA JOYCE – 20s. A cute, domestic and literal-minded Southerner.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">SUSAN and ANDRA WEST – 20s. Sisters. English girls. Susan, the elder, is the leader, continually protecting and looking out for the more fragile Andra. Their first impressions of the war lead to a role reversal.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">CONSTANCE “CONNIE” MARKS – 20-30s. A Dresden-doll of a girl, beautiful, delicate and smart. Plays from behind a blind.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">STEPHANY “STEVE” FOLDEN – 20s-30s. A raw-boned, muscular gal raised in a lumber yard.</p><p class="gmail-" style="white-space-collapse: preserve;">SADIE – 40s-60s. The cook.
