TrueNorth Cultural Arts Announces Upcoming Auditions:
South Pacific
Music by Rodgers, Richard | Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II | Book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan | Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize winning novel "Tales of the South Pacific | By James Michener
Director: Nan Mahony
Music Director: Ben Malkevitch
Choreographer: Katy Russell
About the Play:
Its themes on war and race as relevant today as they were when it first premiered in 1949, South Pacific
strikes a deep chord with its socially conscious story set to some of
the most memorable songs ever written for the stage. On an island in
the South Pacific, two love stories run parallel as WWII rages in the
background: Navy nurse Nellie Forbush falls for French expatriate Emile
de Becque, and Marine Lieutenant Joe Cable is enamored by native
islander Liat. Can their affections penetrate their ingrained
prejudices? Be swept away to “Bail Ha’i” this summer, and set sail to South Pacific!
