About the Instructor!

Barb Stitzer started modeling and acting at age 10 in her home town of  Los Angeles. She has appeared in dozens of commercials, print ads,  television pilots  and plays, as well as having had a recurring role on Days of Our Lives. She studied for two years with Sanford Meisner himself, and teaches acting in the Meisner style, in a thoughtful, positive and empowering environment. She is a Master Photographer and develops models  as well. She lives in Hudson with her husband, Buzz, and daughters, Tenley, a model, singer, cheerleader, diver and show kid,  and Zoe, who is a sophomore at  the Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.

For Students Ages 12-18

TEEN MEISNER
The more specific you are as an actor, the more work you will book. If you’re interested in playing theater games, this isn’t the class. If you are a serious actor who really wants to create truth in your work, this IS the place for you. The Meisner Method is about finding the truth in your work, leaving “acting” behind in favor of reacting, truly listening to your scene partner and acting from your heart, not your script. We’ll start with objective repetition, work into a more subjective repetition, then raise the stakes with a knock at the door. You’ll learn the reality of doing, not pretending, so that you can produce emotion any time you need it. *8-week session extending from June 25 through August 18*


ADULT MEISNER
The Meisner Method is about finding the truth in your work, leaving “acting” behind in favor of reacting, truly listening to your scene partner and acting from your heart, not your script. We’ll start with objective repetition, work into a more subjective repetition, then raise the stakes with a knock at the door. You’ll learn the reality of doing, not pretending, so that you can produce emotion any time you need it. *8-week session extending from June 25 through August 18*

ADULT COMMERCIAL TECHNIQUE
Commercial acting is completely different from theatrical acting. In this class, you will learn how to find an agent, slate, break down a commercial script, find the key words, deliver it to the camera in a commercial manner, and book the job. *8-week session extending from June 25 through August 18*
