On Camera Commercial Auditions & Headshots

Sunday, April 14, 11am-3pm

Powerhouse team Jessica Houde-Morris, Meisner specialist, and Shannon Ahlstrand, Ohio’s premier Headshot Photographer, team up to bring you the perfect workshop. Learn on camera commercial and under 5 skills, as well as how to pose naturally for the camera and learn your type!

Auditioning is its own skill actors must study in addition to acting classes. And auditioning for commercials and under 5’s is yet another skill that differs from auditioning for film and television. Learn when it’s okay to use props or improv, or when to stick to the script for commercial auditions.

Join us and work with Jessica Houde-Morris on mastering your commercial auditions.

On the day of the workshop all actors will receive two scripts, a commercial and under 5 script, and time in class to work on the assigned script. You will be recorded, and everyone will review the footage. Jessica will give feedback and redirects.

In addition to mastering your audition skills you will learn how to take headshots that will get you those auditions.

Your headshot is your visual resume. It lets casting directors know who you are as a person, as a professional, and who you could be as a character. In this workshop you get the opportunity to work with one of northeast’s sought after headshot photographers, Shannon Ahlstrand, and she will teach you how to properly prepare before your next headshot session to create memorable headshots.

Shannon will help each actor learn their type and explain the difference between commercial vs film and television headshots. She will give small market tips for industrial, commercial, corporate, and independent films. You will learn how to dress properly for your type, and how to pose in front of the camera naturally so you can go into your next headshot session confidently and fully prepared.
